Not a great film indeed, mainly lacking in tension and atmosphere.

The acting isn't great either, but that's to be expected when Jon Bon Jovi gets to play the lead role. but that's never really that annoying in a horror movie. The characters themselves are indeed quite boring.

The action is also moderately portrayed and the only thing that keeps this film afloat is the good music. But hey, one swallow does not make a summer and so this also applies here.

1.5*

Carpenter's films are somewhat underrated. The many sequels and remakes of his films prove this. Here again, Los Muertos has become a big disappointment. Vampire films should not really be underestimated. Despite names like Bon Jovi and Diego Luna, it remains a B-movie. Little atmosphere, poor story and quite ugly setting. Not really original, I had hoped for a bit more spice. In the form of humor, action, tension, eroticism, ... it doesn't matter. But now it is an ugly box, with Bon Jovi's head as an image on the lid.

Carpenter was the executive producer and therefore had a fair amount of influence.

Like its predecessor Vampires (directed by Carpenter), I found the film reasonable, both

rather clumsy, with Vampires still having the advantage of James Woods' leading role. Now

with Jon Bon Jovi with clearly less acting ability, although he did not do badly.
