Makes a much more impression than on the first viewing. Actors are all perfect, wonderful direction (justifiably calf) and camerawork. Even think that this story form is more suitable than in a beautiful book that sometimes has too much story. from 3.5* to 4*

Quite an interesting film, which unfortunately never gets off the ground and doesn't want to be exciting. Fedja van Huêt and Marcel Hensema are excellent actors, who feel good about each other in de Grot, but are given too little space to really convince.

The scenes of the holiday camp are fascinating, but have those typical Dutch features; laborious acting, mediocre dubbing and sprinkled with something which makes scenes run rough. Most of the English-language scenes are downright annoying and don't fit in with the rest.

Despite the film being mediocre, I was still swept away and touched by the ending. Beautiful, and rewarded with an extra 0.5*.

Small 3.5*

Finally ran into this film, while browsing through the "baking thrillers" in the "free" category of UPC. The film is a great feast of recognition. The young faces of a range of traditional Dutch actors pass by, with Jeroen Willems in particular coming back to life; yet the magic of film to make stars shine forever. Also nice to see the young version of Frank Lammers slide through the screen with his typical voice.
Anyway, the story is a vortex of friendship, love, fear and the ultimate last hidden answer to a question that lingers agonizingly well from the start. But ...
But it's all a bit too lukewarm for me. If two lovers look for each other in the dark, and finally find and touch each other in the most horrific moment, then cinematically very baroque, with much more contrast, could have been unpacked. This film deserved a majestic play of light and darkness. All in all, the story now continued in, for my taste, a bit too timid and subdued tone.
