Joe the King plot
Joe Henry gets into trouble at a young age because of his rebellious behavior. This behavior is directly linked to his alcoholic and unhinged father, who also works as a janitor at Joe's school. When Joe starts puberty, he finds it more and more difficult to find his way. He works as a minor jack-of-all-trades in a diner, going out, smoking, drinking and stealing, all at the expense of his schoolwork. When his father destroys his mother's record collection, Joe's behavior really gets out of hand.
