Mannen från Mallorca plot
In Stockholm, on St. Lucia's holiday, a bandit robs a busy post office. Within a day, two witnesses are dead. Two agents, Johansson and Jarnebring, who were the first to arrive at the robbery scene, follow all the leads and find a suspect, an arrogant member of the secret police. A man assigned to protect the Attorney General. When the cops think they've closed the net around the suspect, all sorts of other clues emerge; witnesses are no longer so sure. Who protects the suspect and why?

The calm style, with its occasional, violent excesses, elevates this thriller to a higher level. Much of the film remains open-ended, which prevents it from being a piecemeal affair, but rather an inventive storyline where you can fill in some of the details yourself. Key words: corruption, sex, prestige, cover-up, murder, and manipulation. A level-headed 4* performance.
