Kaufman goes all out....over the top squared!

These kinds of movies don't really stick with me, although the first movie in the series is solid. This 4th movie actually has a story, namely Toxie somehow ends up in a parallel world where his bad self (Noxie) is swapped to his world. Because of this, Toxie's girlfriend Heidi Sjursen plays 2 roles, namely Sarah / Claire, because in the parallel world certain things change and are not the same as in Toxie's world. A lot of crazy characters pass by, even ridiculous so-called superheroes with silly names. A lot of nudity, but most of the ladies are not that attractive. Heidi Sjursen is worth seeing and Julie Strain can be seen briefly with a great Self - Facelift Death. Carla Pivonski as Bikini Anchor Samantha Chambers and Debbie Rochon as the teacher are also striking appearances, but you will not see them naked. Still, there are quite a few attractive ladies in the film, but you see them pass by very quickly or you just miss them because the scenes are so short, such as Tiffany Shepis, Lana Kinnear, Devin DeVasquez and Petra Verkaik. To be honest, I didn't recognize them. Eli Roth, Stan Lee, Ron Jeremy, Corey Feldman also have a small addition. In terms of gore and distasteful, it can be a real feast because there is a lot to experience. Too crazy to mention, but to say in one word... absurd! But you have to like it. And that is the problem with this film (even though you know you can expect this), it all seems too silly. Unfortunately, I can't give it a pass. 4/10

A Troma as a Troma should be. And that is unfortunately not only positive, because it lasts far too long. In this Citizen Toxie: Toxic Avenger IV we go back to Tromaville, with its local superhero, the Toxic Avenger aka Toxie. But also to the parallel dimension Amortville, where the evil doppelganger the Noxious Offender is running amok, and of course they switch places. But okay, I am now telling something about the story, but that is not what Troma is about. It is a film full of gore, flat pubertal jokes, lots of poop, pee, nudity and gore, and in addition to the Toxic Avenger also supporting roles for Sgt. Kabukiman (and his evil twin), Ron Jeremy and Lemmy. Just to give you an idea of the level: it starts with a terrorist group in diapers that takes a school for 'special children' hostage, or retards as the Diaper Mafia calls them, which is accidentally completely blown up by Toxie's sidekick Lardass and his explosive farts. I'm done with the poop and pee a bit quicker than with the rest, but I don't need this kind of jokes and gags for the entire film (and then almost two hours). Some Tromas hold up better than others, but I was done with this one halfway through.

The brakes are fully released in this fourth part of the series, which fortunately is a bit closer to the first part and has less to do with the events in the second and third chapters. This film opens with a hostage situation, in which you as a viewer are immediately confronted with the facts. Lame and childish, but quite wrong and delightfully clumsy. Director Lloyd Kaufman knows better than anyone that his effects in this film have to be kept practical and takes full advantage of that. It all makes no sense at all, but fortunately it is effective. However, it does not remain effective for a drawn-out playing time of almost 110 minutes and as a viewer you quickly notice that the ideas were almost made up on the spot. The finale is somewhat tiring and not very funny (the best scenes are in the first half hour), but it is a step forward compared to the previous parts and that makes this a lot more entertaining. Doing wrong without inhibition is something that is missed in the current era, which makes a film like this immediately stand out.
