Fighting kitschy.

This superhero movie is the umpteenth in recent years. It seems like a new superhero is added every month. Following on from that other comic book series, here too the heroes must work together to face the villain. DC follows Marvel and next week it will be the other way around. Because there is a lot of money to be made with the genre. A lot.

Director Zack Snyder, who previously idiosyncratically tackled the genre with the strong Watchmen, choked hopelessly on Sucker Punch but otherwise always comes up with something nice. Proud pulp seems to be his trademark. So too here when Batman and his new friends bring the now-dead Superman back to life, hoping he'll join them.

There is no further storyline, because Justice League is popcorn entertainment of the highest order. There is no need to think here and everything revolves around the overwhelming action. The beautiful Gadot once again makes an appearance as Wonder Woman and Ezra Miller provides a comic touch as The Flash. Aquaman and Cyborg manage to impress less. Not to mention CGI crook Steppenwolf.

Still, Justice League is entertaining enough to watch. In 3D it is even easy to see that, despite all the computer animations, the eye for detail is not lacking. It usually looks beautiful. Kitschy, as the filmmaker intends. The fight scenes are not surprising, but they are nicely over the top and the pace is high. You get what you expect. Nothing more, nothing less.

Watched last night, it starts messy right away, suddenly there is steppenwolf? No introduction nothing.

Action was ok here and there, but otherwise not at all interesting.

broke.

Zack Snyder is quite a director with potential, but not for this kind of movie. He has already shown that he cannot find the right balance, but in the meantime his style has also been completely eroded.

What remains is a very standard superhero movie. But even in that, the film fails regularly. You would almost think that playing a superhero is quite difficult, Momoa is the only one who makes it a bit believable. Not good for a completely empty character. The rest are mostly identityless (Superman and Cyborg), downright annoying (Batman and Flash) and even amateurish (Gadot seems to be taking part in some Spanish soap opera).

The bad guy is also one to forget, visually it's not much, the humor is all cringe, the plot is boring, tone is not consistent. It's just a big disaster. Poor poor DC.

It's busy and it makes a lot of noise.

1.0*
