Another fantastic role from Michelle Williams. I think she's an excellent actress. Whether it's a Hollywood movie or a small independent film like this, the result is so much more with her. That certainly counts in a minimalist film like this one. Because this is nothing more than a "girl looking for dog" story. Or rather: the delusion of a better life elsewhere is typical of certain impoverished parts of the States. Wendy keeps track of her budget but is not prepared for the unforeseen (the car that no longer works) and therefore ends up in a marginal and lonely existence. The ending is striking (the dog is better off than the owner ) and it remains to be seen whether Wendy will achieve her goal. That made me sad too. This film made me think hard about Steinbeck's work. And also to Into the Wild, but then completely stripped of the romance surrounding it.

“You can't get an address without an address. You can't get a job without a job.”

Solid film about a young woman who lives out of her car with her dog and travels around aimlessly. Wendy has little money, and when she returns to the supermarket after being arrested for shoplifting, her dog is gone. Wendy has seen better days shall we say. Michelle Williams has always been strong in these types of roles and Wendy is also a person you feel sorry for, but sometimes also wants to give you a kick in the ass. The last scene between Wendy and her dog is strong, and that the dog is better off than her owner is telling.

Well, I usually really like these kind of movies. With a heavy heart two stars. It didn't hit me. Too slow for me. And slow is not bad, but then you have to put a certain tension in it. The silence and slowness must have a function. I could have missed this movie. setback.
