Documentary about what director Sebring calls 'the Joan of Arc of rock 'n roll', Patti Smith. The longstanding figurehead of New York's alternative rock circles. Among other things, she talks about the grief of her early husband Fred and the artistic circle of friends she moved and moves between, of whom people like Robert Mapplethorpe, Allen Ginsberg and William S. Burroughs are well-known members.
