"Reckless, Roaring, Adventure of the Great Northwest Gold Rush Days!"

Matt Calder (Robert Mitchum), a raw shell with a wild past, wants to build a future and starts a new life as a farmer. All goes well until they meet a dubious couple, the gambler Harry Weston (Rory Calhoun) and the beautiful saloon singer Kay (Marilyn Monroe). Tricked and robbed by Weston, Matt decides to give chase and get revenge. Unarmed and using a raft for transport down the river, Matt, Mark and Kay, abandoned by Weston, hunt for the impostor.
