Willem Wilmink - Dichter in de Javastraat plot
Writer/poet Willem Wilmink (1936) died in 2003 in Javastraat in Enschede. The same street where he was born 66 years earlier and where he would eventually return after wandering through the Netherlands. He hammered his lines out of an old-fashioned typewriter. The result was often genius in simplicity, but nevertheless emerged from a complex personality. Wilmink was plagued by fears and neuroses. If a ringing telephone disturbed his concentration, he would go out of his mind with rage. Complete silence around him was required. In the documentary 'Willem Wilmink - Dichter in de Javastraat', the life of "the sweetest man in the Netherlands" is sketched by family, friends and colleagues such as Herman Finkers, Joost Prinsen, Aart Staartjes and Hans Dorrestijn.
