Millionaire Jean-Marc (Montand) finds out that a show program wants to make him the target of ridicule. He wants to stop the show and buys the theater and the rights. When he meets Amanda (Monroe) (who has a part), he wants to join in too. He takes expensive singing lessons from Bing Crosby, from Milton Berle he tries to tell jokes and from Gene Kelly he tries to learn to dance.
