The Beatles: Eight Days a Week - The Touring Years plot

"The band you know. The story you don't."

For this documentary, filmmaker Ron Howard uses archival footage and 'found footage' of The Beatles during their concert years from 1963 to 1966. During this so-called first and extremely successful period of their career, the band is busy performing. The images are supported by interviews and stories about the 250 concerts that the famous foursome gave at the time.

A smooth, highly entertaining documentary about the Fab Four during their concert years, from 1963 to 1966. Beatlemania is beautifully captured, with delightful archive footage and enjoyable interview segments, with old and new footage skillfully edited into a coherent whole. Probably more enjoyable for the uninitiated, like myself, than for seasoned fans, but they too will likely thoroughly enjoy it.

A great documentary with lots of beautiful footage about the history of The Beatles. Just what you'd expect from a regular documentary. So no extra twist or a different angle or anything. Still, I often thought of The Rutles: All You Need Is Cash (Film, 1978) - MovieMeter.nl. For example, when The Beatles had to play at Shea Stadium, named after the revolutionary and resistance fighter.

A great documentary about the Beatles' early years, which were dominated by Beatlemania worldwide. During that time, they toured the world with live concerts until their end in 1966. Live footage is interspersed with interviews with the Beatles and their contemporaries. I'm quite familiar with their story, so no big surprises. Nevertheless, it's still impressive to see how it all developed. And how basic the sound systems were in the '60s. It's actually unbelievable how basic it looked—and always completely drowned out by screaming girls.
