Captivating film about religious indoctrination, hypocrisy, disturbed family relationships and love, which still makes a deep impression upon review. A sober and somber film with a disturbing true story and excellent acting.

Strong drama to what religious fanaticism can lead. And all - from the Bible belt, over the Jehovah's to other dominant (sub)religions - swear to have a monopoly on the truth and indoctrinate their followers into malleable sheep.

Jehovah's used to come to my grandmother's house - where I lived - to give Bible lessons. We also went to their meetings. Fortunately, we never experienced the pressure when we stopped after a year or so. However, numerous other stories are known, including in the media, of those who have resigned. Although we may never have really belonged to it, the crucifixes and statue of Mary simply remained in the living room when they arrived. They didn't make a problem of it outwardly either...

Then the movie. I think it is an excellent and sober representation of how the group acts. It was not entirely clear to me what the trigger was for Sara to leave . Even while living with her boyfriend, she openly talked about becoming a pilgrim. The turnaround was very sudden and opposite. Furthermore, nice acting, authentic too. Enjoyed watching it.

Nice movie.

Not the first to tell a story (here based on a true event) how religion can hinder love and happiness, and not a little.

Very solid construction.

Rosalinde Mynster shines in the role of the tormented girl. Beautiful representation of the love she cherishes and the inner struggle with that love and her family as stakes.
