It was to be expected that a sequel after the very nice first film would only be disappointing. Not only are we now dealing with a terrible amount of bad actors who also have to put down unsympathetic characters. Rusty Nail doesn't have the voice of Ted Levine and is therefore a lot less terrifying, while in the form of Nik they are one of the most annoying young adults I have ever seen in such a movie. Bad editing, uninteresting kills, a resounding lack of tension and above all very ugly cinematography. And then of course there's that obligatory ending that movies like this always suffer from. Leave part 3 alone.

Starts off pretty weak, with a really ugly TV-movie-like look, but gets very entertaining as the film progresses.

The group of hunted twenty-somethings is not very interesting. That gothic guy is even bloody irritating in the beginning, but in the heat of battle actually becomes the most entertaining character. Rusty Nail is a bit more brutal in this second part, which makes for a number of gore scenes. Mostly gone, however, is the 'stalk' part that made part 1 so strong. The feeling that Rusty Nail can show up anywhere with his truck at any time, that's a bit less here. Yet there are also some exciting scenes, culminating in the crash between the truck and the old-timer. Nicely filmed.

At many times very simple and cliche, and often even quite stupid. But stupid also has its charm, as long as it's entertaining. And that's what Joy Ride 2 is. Sometimes even quite exciting.
