China's Stolen Children plot

The one-child policy in China has led to large-scale child theft and child trafficking, a practice that the government prefers to keep quiet. China's one-child policy has disastrous consequences. Parents who are unable to pay birth licenses sell their daughters for as little as 300 to 400 euros. Mothers sometimes still have abortions up to eight months into the pregnancy to avoid fines and prosecution. Every year, some 70,000 children, mainly boys, are abducted as a result of poverty. Authorities are more concerned about keeping this fact quiet than tracking down China's stolen children. "China's Stolen Children" consists of largely illegally filmed interviews with desperate parents of stolen children, a trafficker who even sold his own son, and parents who give up their daughter for lack of other options.
