Apur Sansar plot
Third part of the Apu Trilogy. Due to a lack of money, Apu is forced to discontinue his studies, leaving him unemployed in Calcutta. His friend Pulu proposes to him to attend a wedding, but the groom turns out to be disturbed. To spare the bride Akarna disgrace, Pulu proposes that Apu marry her, which the latter agrees to. However, Akarna dies giving birth to her child, after which Apu leaves Calcutta. Their son stays behind with Akarna's parents.
