Hodgepodge of adventure and romantic film, captivating at times with a few remarkable moments (the sinking of the ship stands out), also because of the era. Unfortunately, the romantic event, although remarkable (as already stated here; adultery and on both sides as well) is not always very uplifting and the middle part is therefore rather boring.

2.5*.

Nice Hitch. The first quarter is especially great with a lot of visual play that makes you wonder how the great director suddenly became so corny at times in his late years. Very fresh piece with everything that makes it abundantly clear that Hitchcock once made silent films. Partly by the intertitles (unnecessary) but also by showing a lot via images. The first five minutes could have been a silent movie. The rest is a very smoothly told story, nice to follow but not very special, except that it jumps from one subject to another and follows one genre after another. Nothing to really be drawn into (acting is also very flat) but nice to have seen. 3.0*.

Reasonable film about a poor couple who go on a long journey after an inheritance. You could call it a kind of transition film by Alfred HItchcock between a silent film and a film with sound (there are still some scenes without dialogue). Rather patchy. Quite entertaining here and there and the hand of the master of suspense is certainly visible at times. A small 3.0 stars.
