Scrooge plot

"What happened when Scrooge saw Marley's face on the door knocker...and the clock struck twelve!"

Ebenezer Scrooge is a real miser who has nothing good to say about Christmas. This is in contrast to his clerk Cratchit who lives on the brink of poverty and his cheerful cousin Fred. Like many others, they are just full of the Christmas feeling. Then, on Christmas Eve, Scrooge is visited by the ghost of his former business partner Jacob Marley. Who warns him that he will be visited by three ghosts, those of Christmas past, Christmas present and Christmas future. If he doesn't want to end up like Marley, Scrooge will have to repent.

Tried it once again this year, it's a short film and still looks enjoyable. As I mentioned earlier, it is very dated and it is mainly Seymour Hicks who, as a convincing Scrooge, still makes this worthwhile.

2.5 remains 2.5.

Watched this afternoon with my 85 year old mother. On Boxing Day as it should be. A difficult film to rate. The story is, of course, quite exhausted by now. But this was Scrooge's first feature film. And so then still new to the movie. THE version I had was also colored in, but that was not disturbing. There is heavily exaggerated acting, but that is of course also part of 1935. So you cannot compare it with films of today. And I think it was a good movie for its time. It all went well and looked relatively good. But nowadays you really can't come up with these kinds of films anymore. And that's probably why so many more versions of this movie have been made over the years.
