Sketch Artist plot

Jack works for the police as a sketch artist, which means that he makes a drawing of the suspect based on evidence from witnesses, which can be used for investigation. To his surprise, a face he has to draw one day resembles his girlfriend's. Not believing that his girlfriend is responsible, he adapts the drawing and investigates himself.

Near the student flat where I lived at the time there was a video store, and my neighbours and I often went there to rent a film - and in the early days also a video recorder, because you didn't have those yourself back then. An old-fashioned shop with a drop-dead gorgeous blonde behind the counter, and a porn section on the first floor - and everyone who rented a film there would get an 'inconspicuous' plastic bag from her, only those things were quite recognisably black and white striped, so if you showed up at the flat with one you could expect booing from half the floors. So no, don't give me a bag.

From that business, from that time I remember this film, and I may have picked it up more than once even - perhaps because I was quite impressed by Drew Barrymore at the time, and also a bit by Sean Young although he wasn't really my 'type' then. I think I am now.

As a film it all disappoints now. The ladies are no less beautiful, but where I might have put myself in Fahey's shoes then, I now find him a bit of a silly character, and perhaps not so amiable either. And of course the story sucks.

This is really the kind of film that you should only watch the first five minutes of, the rest is disappointing.
