L'Aimée plot

L'Aimée is first and foremost the story of Thérèse, the filmmaker's grandmother on his father's side. She died of TB when she was 36 and her father Desplechin was two years old. Father Robert tells his son what he knows about the woman he never really knew, and together they reconstruct her life using photographs, diaries, letters and a painting by Thérèse that hangs in the father's bedroom. That image is supplemented by the fantasy, and by a camera that searches through the slowly emptied rooms of the house.
