Paris plot

A Parisian is told that he is seriously ill and wonders if he will die soon. His new condition gives him a completely different outlook on life and the people who cross his path. Life suddenly becomes a thousand times more intense and all people, regardless of sex, religion, race, age or whatever, are special to him. We then see the lives of nine Parisians who, to a greater or lesser extent, end up in his living environment and how their lives, which at first sight are not interesting, are nevertheless very special to them.

A bit predictable and too superficial for me and when everyone started sex I turned it off out of boredom. Unlikely and forced 'Parisien' all. Even the party wasn't a joy to watch. Not my cup of tea, I guess.

An image of the city (regardless of Paris or Nairobi or Enschede) can go either way; whether you use personal stories or not, and if so; what storylines are left. Klapisch opts for somewhat more extreme storylines, where I personally can also be satisfied with a lot of stylistic camera use, a good soundtrack and normal life in that big city.

The whole has little sparkle, but the somewhat gray, cold winter images with the colorful soundtrack with accompanying title (Seize the Day), the film still gets that individuality.

A number of unrealistic dialogues and scenes diminish the credibility of the film and take the viewer out of the flow of the film. All in all a nice picture of a city. 3*

Chronicle of a number of people from Paris - and beyond - whose lives more or less flow together. Not a new film like this, but this one radiates a certain freshness and there are also a lot of excellent actors to make the whole lively and acceptable. The film does get a bit tired towards the end with a few useless scenes, but the final scene is very beautiful and does contain a certain life wisdom: Why cancer, life is too beautiful to sour...
