Rarely have I seen a documentary maker who chooses his own path as Werner Herzog does in this film.
The voice-over is awful because of that horrible accent, but some of the footage is fantastic.
In the beginning he strictly states that he doesn't want to make yet another penguin movie, while the part about the penguins was by far the most interesting: A penguin who leaves the group behind to travel a gigantic distance and no one wants/can prevent his certain death. Bizarre creature, right?
Sometimes I find his style terrible, other times I like it. A meager six then.

Annoying church music, terrible accent of the voice-over. It often goes nowhere, it seems like all the people in this documentary are not quite right. And what was the subject anyway? What was it about? Except that we were in Antarctica...nothing!

Beautiful nature images alternate with boring ramblings from Herzog and also less interesting people who speak. It is interesting to see how people live in Antarctica and that there is just a small village with all the amenities that go with it, such as a restaurant where they sell stuff that looks like soft ice cream.
Not memorable anywhere else, but that penguin wandering aimlessly sticks in my memory.
