Jock Mahoney does his best as Tarzan but doesn't appeal to me at all and lacks any magic; otherwise, a colorful production with beautiful shots of the many elephants.

Just give me Johnny Weissmuller, Scott, and my favorite, Lex Barker.

A Tarzan film in a different way. In any case, it can't keep up with the predecessors, such as the films with Scott. Tarzan in a different location, like in "New York Adventure," makes it feel so extremely different. I liked it better in New York. The reason Tarzan ended up in India is described above, but they could have explored that more in the film. Ultimately, the first half of the film is very good and, in my opinion, could have easily earned a 4.0. Unfortunately, the finale is very disappointing. The villains weren't special enough either. Jock Mahoney as Tarzan is decent. However, it is clearly visible that he was one of the older actors. Of course, P. Dempsey Tabler, who played Tarzan in 1920, was older. He just didn't appear on screen very often. Otherwise, the film manages to save the day with a score of just under 3.5.

What does this still have to do with Tarzan? The beginning was hilarious: he doesn't get off at an airport because Tarzan doesn't have a passport. He just jumps into the river and enters India illegally.

Down to a good point; after that, it's Tarzan Saves the Elephants. A thin story in which he has to save a herd of elephants from drowning before the opening of a dam floods their habitat. The jungle man becomes an eco-warrior.

The only thing that remains are the tensions between nature and civilization/modernization. But let it be clear that I do not consider this a brilliant film, and Jock Mahoney is also a rather uncharismatic Tarzan. Positive points for the many elephants in action: I find them to be sweet animals.
