Strong.

A film that clearly got its mustard from Asia, but gives it a nice Norwegian schwung.

It is a fairly typical ghost film, so it never wants to be really scary or exciting. It's too familiar territory for that. But in terms of atmosphere, this film is really good. Visually very beautiful, beautiful lighting in front, and above all a great soundtrack. The distorted lamp hum throughout the film really determines the atmosphere.

100% genre film that you absolutely should not watch for excitement or originality, the ending is also a bit too simple, but in terms of atmosphere an unadulterated topper. And that is usually the most important thing in these kinds of films.

4.0* and a extensive review

A Danish horror film that piggybacked on the Asian horror craze in 2007. Also noteworthy is the editing and camera work, which switches from the perfectly normal Danish thriller atmosphere to the choppy and dirty horror atmosphere.

I had my eye on the title when I found out that The Messengers would have a sequel. Made by a Dane, who had made this before his attempt in America. This week I spontaneously thought about it again; turns out this movie is just on Netflix. My Friday night was booked.

Kollegiet is still a fairly creative attempt and certainly entertaining; but still just a bit too standard with a trial that has been used time and time again. An evil spirit who takes possession of a student flat and wants revenge after what the owner experienced 20 years ago. Mirrors, lots of boo moments and a typical reckoning. Or maybe it's just that 2007 has already been 14 years.

The acting was also okay. The suspicious Katrine is portrayed well here and is soon part of a bunch of unpredictable students. As said, the atmosphere and the editing are certainly not bad and also the spirit is portrayed in such a way that it should have run away from such an Asian horror. However, it is just a bit too thin and too standard to really succeed as a rock-solid horror. But it was fun and engaging. Partly because of the atmosphere that keeps things reasonably strong and the creative effort of the director.

3.5*

Unlike my predecessors, this film did not appeal to me at all. A simple plot that is sparsely developed. Almost everything in close-up, little to no atmospheric images. Terrible use of color, mediocre camera work, bad SFX, difficult to get into the story. With two stars I feel more than generous. *2.0
