It's a bit strange that I'm only now seeing this film, given the people who have the same film taste as me massively rate this film highly. So it should come as no surprise that I am no exception.

What a very atmospheric film this is. I've seen names like Tsukamoto pass by, I was most reminded of Zoetrope, perhaps also because of the soundtrack. This film is visually calmer, in terms of atmosphere I thought it came pretty close. The fact that it is visually quieter did not detract at all from the fact that the contrasting black and white with the occasional hint of color was truly phenomenal.

The film seems to focus mainly on experiencing, not so much on thinking. In that respect, the story is mainly a coat rack for the atmosphere. I didn't expect the story to be far from meaningless. So very strong in several respects. 4.5*.

Crazy score! Eden Log is a textbook example of how to make an excellent low budget film. In a very strong way, an atmosphere is created with practically nothing that you say to you. Few movies have made me more uncomfortable than this one. It's crazy how few movies make effective use of something as simple as darkness. You start at zero and gradually the situation becomes quite clear. Not everything is presented in a bite-sized manner, but the way in which the background information becomes clear (the projections) are truly sublime. It's not so much that you have to take the slowness for granted, but this is a film that you really have to sit down for. You've come to the wrong place for spectacle, but atmosphere and tension are top notch in this science fiction/horror film. What a relief not to wait for the bang to frighten you, but finally it is the gloom, pitch dark surroundings and strange noises that make the difference. Effectiveness trumps.

Very disappointing. The film looks cheap, the acting is almost amateurish and the premise (which is by the way not very original) is not fulfilled because it sticks to the same point. Visually, I didn't really find it that special, at the most it was nice. Not much is left of the atmosphere either. Movie is just too long. Haze is more daring, Cube more captivating and the Descent more stylish. 2 stars.
