Een Carmen van het Noorden plot
"If she loves you — beware!"
Joseph, a simple village boy, comes into contact with Carmen during his military service, to whom he sacrifices his loyalty as a soldier, his promise of loyalty to his betrothed, Mareike, the simple peasant girl. When he has to arrest Carmen, who works at a cigarette factory, because she got into a fight with one of the other girls from the factory, she manages to convince him by her passion and beauty to set her free. Indeed, she manages to escape through him.
