Futurama: Bender's Big Score! plot
"Just when you thought it was safe to watch something else!"
As Christmas 3007 approaches, Planet Express is attacked by alien nudists. They discover the secret of time travel and send Bender back in time to rob the Earth of its greatest treasures. Bender comes into contact with Al Gore during his 2000 presidential campaign. Meanwhile, Leela finds her true love.

Where The Simpsons worked as a movie, Futurama gets boring after a while as an episode drawn out over 90 minutes.
Although I've always been less of a fan of Futurama. Is much less grounded in reality which makes the jokes much easier. When everything is possible, it's a bit difficult to still be firmly funny.
The film also picks up on that after a while. Keeps flying in all directions, the intermezzos feel too much like sketches, it just doesn't fit very well with each other.
There are still some funny things left, although I didn't have to laugh too hard. I really liked the first 20 minutes. Then an episode ends and this movie should have done that too.

A little less than I expected, though.
Although I've never really been a fan of the series, I might have expected a little more from this one. Heard few really funny things, but the pace is fast enough to remain captivating.

Friendly. Currently watching the series, so now we've got to the movies. The charm of the series is a bit like The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: science fiction with a big fat wink. Sometimes this works well, sometimes not so much. The Farnsworth Parabox about the parallel universe box is my favorite episode so far.
The film looks a bit nicer than the average episode, although the biggest difference is mainly in the image ratio, which is now widescreen. So in terms of animation, not really brilliant; and like the series, the movie relies mainly on a nonsensical (but thoughtful) plot and characters.
The plot indeed goes in many directions, and it could indeed all be a bit shorter; there are some moments that make it a bit more melancholy than most episodes, but I still found the many time travel very entertaining, where everything is almost completely right, and yet at the end the whole time travel concept is poked fun. And of course some details that are filled in, such as the destruction of New York.
It doesn't reach the level of the best episodes, but is a bit better than the average episode. Entertaining, but for a film I expect something more than that. 3*.
