Steven Shorter is the ultimate British pop star and is surrounded by people who want to keep it that way. His image is clearly portrayed on stage: he plays a criminal who is in prison and his 'violence' appeals to the audience. His management uses this image for various purposes, such as to promote apples and all kinds of commercial products. His last tour of America was an ordeal and the top boss is concerned about Steven's condition, but mainly to protect the investors. Meanwhile, he befriends the artist Vanessa Ritchie, who is painting a portrait of him. Then the Christian church wants to use him for a new campaign to win souls...
