"What Hollywood didn't tell you about one of the world's most secretive religions"
Journalist and program maker Louis Theroux is fascinated by religion and has a lot of experience in dealing with eccentric and extreme behaviour. He doesn't give a damn when his request to visit the Scientology Church headquarters is denied. Inspired by the Church's own filmmaking techniques and aided by former members, he hires actors to impersonate Tom Cruise and Scientology leader David Miscavige to gain insight into the organization's operations. In a bizarre twist, Theroux discovers that the Church is making a movie about him at the same time.
