Like many other South African children, Slindile lost her parents to AIDS. 'We Are Together (Thina Simunye)' is a portrait of the twelve-year-old girl and her friends from the choir of the Agape orphanage. Director Paul Taylor and his crew follow Slindile and her friends over a period of three years. With the help of the pop star Zwai Bala, they record a promotional CD in Durban and eventually give a concert in New York, with Alicia Keys and Paul Simon, among others.
