"Smack destiny in the face."

Amateur stuntman Rod Kimble has one problem: his stepfather Frank is a total jerk. He bullies Rod every day, at the weekly boxing practice he shows Rod every corner of the ring, in fact he doesn't respect Rod at all. And worst of all, Rod's so-called stunts are nothing but laughs in Frank's eyes. One day Frank has a heart attack and the only thing that can save him is a heart transplant. None other than stuntman Rod will act as his savior by raising money for the operation. Rod will jump over 15 buses with his motorbike.

The comparison with Napoleon Dynamite is easily made, but unjustified. Simply, because there is a difference between badly timed humor and awkward timed humor, here for me clearly the 2nd. The second plus of the film is that the nerds seem a lot less forced and more human. The romance and structure in the film may result in less individuality and more accessibility, but individuality is enough.

Samberg plays well as a failing stuntman, partly because he is convinced that he is on his way to being great, when everything fails miserably. The main principle is to keep going, because it has to go well at some point. Where everyone else would tackle a smaller stunt when failing, Rod just goes bigger and bigger.

Nice role by Danny Mcbride, which I can usually have as a sidekick, if not too much in the foreground. Limited actor, being rude is HIS thing, but he can do that very well. Isla Fischer, tsjah

A film that is quickly linked with Napoleon Dynamite, but in heart and soul more like a Rushmore or Anchorman.

Curious about The Watch, but that will have to wait for a while.

“You're a terrible stuntman”

What ?

“you're a terrible stuntman”

OI heard you , you are just being very mean .

Totally laughing out loud. This was just too funny.

Simple slapstick , up to unique riot humor .

Andy sandberg is a great comedic talent.

And if you want to be surprised by a great funny movie , this is your thing .

At least I actually laughed out loud for an hour and a half, that is of course the intention of A comedy, mission accomplished, hence ,,,

4*

Lame.

The Lonely Island, it's all a bit hit and miss. Ten years ago they quickly conquered the internet with their songs. Admittedly, they knew how to do that very well. Moreover, it is clear that Samberg feels very much at home in these kinds of films. Unfortunately, he seems to have forgotten what to do here.

Hot Rod feels especially uncomfortable because it wants to be funny so much. The result is a series of dead jokes that the graveyard will tell you. Many familiar faces are featured in this (although that depends on how closely you've followed recent internet culture), and yet none of them manage to get a decent sentence out of it. You quickly get a somewhat tiring film with it.

What the film can score with is the fact that the production is quite large, and when money is spent on scenes that are actually very short in nature, you have to smile a bit. It is the rare moments when the dry humor does have an effect. As far as the rest of the film is concerned, it's mostly sitting out and then trying to sit out one more time.

Points for some great, funny scenes and decent acting. It's a shame that it's easy to forget for a pretty big, eccentric film like this one. Doesn't seem like the intention of a film that puts itself fully into being unforgettable. But no, with Hot Rod it was all to no avail. Glad I don't have to see this again.
