A Tanú plot
Dike guard József Pelikán (Ferenc Kállai), a single father of eight children, is arrested for illegally slaughtering a pig. But instead of having to pay for his crime, Pelikán is assigned all kinds of important functions, which are really only reserved for members of the communist elite. Pelikán is overjoyed about this, but has no idea that he has become just a plaything in the internal power struggle within the communist party.
