Having seen this film for the first time in the cinema at the end of the 1970s, imagine that half the balcony was filled with truckers, you immediately get a completely different movie experience. What stayed with me most was the music, I still think the title song is one of the best that was made. Peckinpah just transferred a wild west story to modern times, the roles are 1 dimensional, luckily because otherwise you'll get confused, you'll get antipathy towards all the uniform-wearing characters in the film and especially towards three-piece costumes, with smooth separations in the middle. hair and glasses that look strange. The sympathy goes all the way to the truckers and supporters like eleven long-haired Friends a' Jesus In a chartreuse micra-bus,I don't read nothin' in scripture that says thou shall not put the pedal to the metal[/ spoiler], great quote. What McGraw did in the movie, the first scene with her made that clear, because that's really her only contribution to the movie. It probably wasn't the intention at all, but Rubberduck puts her on her track again later But they are all following you, to which the duck replies, No they aint, i'm just in front of them[/ spoiler].
Kristofferson plays an acceptable role but loses out to heavyweight Borgnine, who plays a maniacal sheriff. But the film also has some excellent supporting roles, such as Madge Sinclair as Widow Woman with that wonderful line This piece of white shit! I knew I should've bought myself a black truck! and by Burt Young, this actor's sour face makes him perfect for this kind of role.
Convoy, not an in-depth film, but simple entertainment of a high level, not a masterpiece, but the film gets 4 stars from me

Agree with those who say this is a mediocre Peckinpah, even with decent B-movie content. Convoy is sort of Smokey and the Bandit with truckers, but without humor, with a weak story and an Ernest Borgnine as sheriff who doesn't come across well. Tough road movies usually appeal to me... but in the second half it all sputters a bit with the journalist and the local politicians who are involved. Still not an outright disaster because of the old-school stunts.

A film that remained in the foil for a long time, but has finally been watched! What you expect it is also approximately, but in a positive way!

It is a wonderful time product and at times reminds me of Dukes of Hazzard, so entertaining and plenty of fun stunts! Ali MacGraw is also a very nice addition by the way and makes the most of her role.

Nothing wrong with this movie, the time flew by.

3.5*
