The Hellstrom Chronicle plot

"Shocking. Beautiful. Brilliant. Sensual. Deadly...and in the end, only they will survive."

Professor Hellstrom (Lawrence Pressman), a renowned insect scientist, is so shocked by the ferocity and ferocity he observes in the predatory insect world that he films this "documentary" to warn humanity of its dangers. He shows, among other things, images of two ant colonies at war with each other and depicts the cannibalistic practices of the praying mantis.

A beautiful hard nature film about the life of insects. If you see those creatures up close, they are downright monsters. Paul Verhoeven saw that later on. It's amazing how people were already so technically advanced in the early 1970s. As far as I know, color television had only just been invented.

It is fascinating how people mainly focus on the life of the ant. I was stunned when they took on large prey such as reptiles. But the bees also made an appearance in the film. The power of the number, probably. Nice also those references to movies with giant bugs (and even normal-sized ants).

It's a pity for me too that the guy walks around in the picture all the time. Just let the images do the talking, right?
