Dialogue avec Mon Jardinier plot

A Parisian artist has reached middle age and has had enough of the busy life in Paris. He decides to move to the countryside in the middle of France, to live there in his parental home. However, near the house is a fairly large area full of untouched nature, which he can hardly get along with as a city dweller. He decides to hire someone to keep things up as a gardener and places an advertisement. The first candidate is immediately spot on, a special old man with a view on life that is completely new to the artist.

Very nice, quiet movie house film. Pleasant conversations, fun, sad and quite bizarre and special events, sometimes very moving and very well and convincingly played. Not superficial. This film held my attention, which is not always the case. I am pleasantly surprised! An 8. 4*

Very beautiful film, moving, especially towards the end, excellent dialogues that kept me interested.

Daniel Auteuil and Jean-Pierre Darroussin may be polar opposites in the film, but they both have an abundance of talent in common.

Oh well, it's really a talking film.

And very well acted, especially. I would have expected that from Auteuil, but the Darroussin, which is not well known to me, is absolutely not inferior to him - on the contrary, actually, because his Dujardin is just about perfect, and suits me better than Auteuil's Dupinceau. The scene in which they recall their old school memories is brilliant, and that immediately sets the tone for the entire film.

It's a bit on the limit (and occasionally over) of how much French I understand, and there are some things that the subtitles don't really help you with. But just like with the deeper layers that some see in the film, you don't always have to follow it in detail to appreciate it.
