Omaret Yakobean plot
The Yacoubian Building is still a striking building in Cairo. This film shows some of the lives of its inhabitants. There lives the aristocratic Zaki with his great weakness for women. One of his neighbors is Bothayna, a young woman from a poor background. She has to deal with the owner of the shop where she earns a living for her family and because of that she cannot marry her great love, Taha El Sharky. When his wish to go to the police academy doesn't go through, he joins a religious group. There are also Fanous and Malak, who live in a corrugated iron hut on the roof, and the journalist Hatem, who falls in love with a soldier.
