Endless Night plot

"Victim... or killer?"

Michael Rogers, a young man of the 12 Crafts and 13 Accidents type, meets an American girl, Ellie Thomsen, at an old English mansion for sale. They get to know each other better and decide to get married. Ellie turns out to be extremely wealthy and buys the house and land where she first saw Michael. The old house is demolished and together they have a modern dream house built. But what do the strange old woman's warnings mean? Film adaptation of the book 'Endless Night' by Agatha Christie.

Phew, I saw that ending coming a mile off especially because Bennett has such a shady head. It's all a bit lame, and technically unimpressive.

2.25*

A decent film about a young man who wants to build his dream house, but first falls in love. Not exactly a typical Agatha Christie whodunit. And because of this, the course of this slightly mysterious film is difficult to predict. A rather unsympathetic main character. A mere 3.0 stars for this rather peculiar film.

It's been a while since I last read the book (it's due again soon), but I think this film adaptation follows Agatha Christie's story fairly faithfully. Not successfully, in my opinion. Everything feels off. The casting, the atmosphere, the house... And I had imagined the brilliant Santonix very differently, but oh well.

It all falls flat. Michael Rogers is a complete failure from the start, Ellie remains a lackluster character, and even George Sanders, whom I've seen shine so often, doesn't convey any dedication. The good intentions were certainly there, the tribute to my queen of crime was certainly sincere, but alas.
