Beautiful drama. Strong role from Rogers who really does it well this time. The story is nicely worked out. Perhaps the only Rogers film that I can really be positive about because Shriek in the Night, A (1933) and Heartbeat (1946) were not great. 3.5.

We live, not as we wish to, but as we can.

I seem to remember that many years ago this movie made me think that Ginger Rogers was much more than just Fred Astaire's dance partner. Entertaining romantic drama about a young woman from a Tokkie-like background and her relationship with the manager of a roadside restaurant. Witty one-liners make the drama a bit lighter from time to time.

Excellent role by Rogers, who convincingly plays an initially somewhat unworldly young woman. The portrayal of Queenie Vassar as the sarcastic grandmother, who you will hate in no time, should also not go unmentioned.

With a grandma like that you don't need enemies anymore.

Although she gets off pretty mercifully in the end because throughout the film she manages to make up for the already bad

conditions even further.

Furthermore, an entertaining drama about a young woman (Rogers) who tries to keep her aso family hidden from her brand new husband.
