Nicest little one. Doable despite the many clichés (of course the queen of the prom is a bitch, because it ALWAYS is). Better than its many peers thanks to the refreshing play of the two protagonists. Not the best, but quite entertaining as a snack.

Thematically, the film is not very original, so you know that you have to pay attention to the fun factor in this genre. In the beginning it is all cringe-inducing and over the top, just to show those contradictions as exaggerated as possible.

Fortunately, after the body swap, the two characters become a bit more sympathetic and they get into some mischief because they still think each other is stupid. You know that the romantic twist will undoubtedly come and that's why it's still very manageable. Still, I might have liked to see them go a little more fun and over the top after waking up inside each other's bodies. Precisely that exaggerated fuss at the beginning of the film would work better from this point on.

Oh well, it's not all that bad. It's all about how you set yourself up in a type of movie like this. Then you can ignore the uncomfortable mid-00s vibe and humor.

2.5*

Very mediocre.

Not even in the elaboration, these kinds of films are just not really for me. It's a Boy Girl Thing doesn't really know what it wants to be either, since the film basically chooses several directions to follow, but never really manages to walk one completely.

In any case, I'm guessing that the film is intended for a young audience, but it can't get anywhere on the Disney channel because of the multiple references to sexual acts. Still, I don't think it's intended for an older audience, since the film's approach is rather childish. Both Zegers and Armstrong both shoot into overacting mode, which is actually more annoying than fun.

For example, there is always an attempt to be funny, but the execution itself leaves much to be desired. Lots of yelling and grand gestures, but it's not funny. Also not rushed. The first part still looks pretty good, but after that the film starts to get tougher because of the somewhat annoying way of humor, until it's time to tell the time.

Partly because I found the content boring, and partly because the film doesn't take a moment to be just a little bit original. The concept is imaginative, yet director Hurran manages to execute it as normally as possible. Focus on both comedy and romance, but the comedy isn't exactly funny and the romance follows way too familiar paths.

There really isn't much to praise this film with. It still feels fresh and I appreciate the self-mockery of the actors and actresses, but otherwise this was a tough film that is not very funny. I just don't really see the fun in this kind of humor, and that's why this movie was automatically a miss for me. So for the enthusiast, but I don't belong to that.
