It's not all that great, but the kids have some fun adventures, and it's quite a laugh. Overall, it's a tough nut to crack, so you really need to be in the mood to give it a try.

Not good.

The fact is, Feig just isn't that good of a director. This is one of those films where you don't really need a director, except perhaps to shout "cut" every now and then. It's all so standard and cliché that a technical team could easily pull it off with a script.

Furthermore, the children are truly annoying (most of them never made it back), except perhaps Brett Kelly, but he's just repeating his Bad Santa act. The rest of the cast, including Lewis Black, is simply unwatchable. The only good thing is seeing some now-familiar faces in smaller roles, but you can't live off that for 90 minutes.

There's not much Christmas spirit either; it's more of a children's adventure film set in an airport with a Christmas tree at the end. Luckily, there's plenty of snow to maintain some atmosphere. It's one to quickly forget; I suspect Feig felt the same way afterward.

1.0*

Fun, and much funnier than expected. It's a teen movie, but one with fun and funny moments (Hummer scene ) and enjoyable adventures.
