Dead Bang plot

"For one cop this isn't just a case. It's a war."

On Christmas Eve, Officer Gary Kimble is murdered in cold blood by a man who has just committed a robbery. Homicide Inspector Jerry Beck is ordered to arrest the culprit. Not an easy job, because he has hardly any traces to base himself on. His instincts lead him to one Bobby Barnes, a very intelligent crook who has just been released. Gradually, he discovers not only that Bobby is the perpetrator, but that he is also part of a group of white extremists who have planned to systematically rob and shoot colored people...

Nice police action movie that I had never heard of before.

I was very pleased with him.

Johnson as a cop - this movie must have been from just after the end of miami vice - but still completely different from Crockett. I found it simply funny, like when he fixes his glasses with duct tape and the laughing scene at the police psychiatrist

Story was well put together. The scene at the end in the underground part was a bit long-winded, but the ending was still surprising.

3.5 stars

Mediocre film in which an inspector searches for the perpetrator of a double murder, including a police officer. A standard 80s police film with clichéd characters. Here and there a bit illogical and unbelievable (the entire role of Penelope Ann Miller for example). Don Johnson does little wrong.

A cop is tasked with tracking down a racist criminal who murdered another cop and finds himself in the white supremacist milieu.
Messy police film that wants to be too much. I was not bored by it. Frankenheimer is not the least name in the genre and usually guarantees quality. Not here. Sometimes very bizarre scenes that completely miss the mark such as the one-night-stand and the Woody Allen lookalike-psychotherapy. Really scenes that make you say wtf... Other characters also fail to come into their own.
