Leans close to Chinese horror.
Above all, a riot of color, a wonderfully stylish soundtrack, and a story based partly on horror and partly on drama. The latter, in particular, seems very typical of Chinese horror films, which are consequently less scary but exude a more beautiful atmosphere.
I thought it was a really cool story too, truly beautifully visualized. The locations were also very beautiful; the color desaturation worked perfectly. The whole thing is very atmospheric and manages to captivate very easily until the very end.
Not exactly for those looking for scares and pure suspense, but anyone looking to watch a beautiful, strong, and atmospheric mystery film can hardly go wrong with this one.
Solid 4*
