Guinevere (Ormond) promises to marry King Arthur (Connery), because her land will then fall under the protection of Camelot. Lancelot (Gere) is a very gifted and courageous swordsman who saves her from the evil Malagant during her Drive to Camelot. They fall in love instantly, but Guinevere plans to keep her promise to Arthur. Lancelot doesn't give up that easily, though.

Free adaptation of the famous King Arthur story. However, the fantasy elements have been removed from the story. So no Merlin the Wizard or a magic sword called Excalibur. The film focuses on the love triangle between Lancelot, Guinevere and Arthur. The story is not very special, but is told smoothly. Richard Gere has been criticized for his American accent, but his natural charm works surprisingly well for a film like this. However, he is played from the canvas by Sean Connery who plays an excellent King Arthur.
All in all, a successful adventure film in the style of films like Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.

The film 'First Knight' by Jerry Zucker is a film based on the story of King Arthur, starring Richard Gere (Lancelot), Sean Connery (Arthur) and Julia Ormond (Guinevere). It is a film about adventure and love.
The film is about Guinevere and Arthur who get married because Malagant burns down the villages around Leonesse (the land of Quinevere) in order to ensure their safety. Along the way, Guinevere meets Lancelot. Guinevere continues on his way to Arthur, once they are married she is kidnapped by Malagant, after Lancelot rescued her, Malagant is not up and he continues with Leonesse's possession. The acting in the film is very good you can see that they empathize with their role, the places where the film was filmed was not always good there are parts in the film where you have a black image with a few dim spots of light. The story in the film is very nice and it continues very nicely but in the beginning not everything was clear and it took a while before it became clear with the prehistory. It is a film that you can watch with the family but I would not watch it myself with younger children because sometimes images come in that go a bit far for younger children but I think that children of 12 years can definitely watch it.
'First Knight' is a very nicely acted film with a good storyline but not always good images. It is not suitable for children under 12.

The story is a good story about Arthur and Camelot. The story is about a great king who has to defend his kingdom. you are going to meet a man who must be the first to rescue Guinevere from a heist and then become a knight of the round table. Because he fell in love with the queen, Arthur thought he had betrayed him.
I think they filmed the movie well for the time as it was filmed in 1995.
