The Woman in Black plot
A young lawyer is sent on a boring mission. A client of the law firm has passed away and has no heirs. His assignment is simple, go to her house and make an inventory of all the goods present. Upon arrival it appears that the deceased was not really loved, because there are no people at the funeral, only a lady dressed in black watches from a distance. Arriving at the house, the young lawyer finds a very primitive (very modern at the time) recording device and starts listening to the old woman's recordings. But who is still that woman in black who occasionally reappears here, and what kind of voices are those, and does he also hear footsteps?

Nice, but just a bit too little tension and I didn't understand the ending.
The old atmosphere is well conveyed.
Acting was good too.

Very atmospheric, quietly constructed horror film. There aren't many jump scares, but the few that are there are very effective. There is not much gore to be discovered, the focus is mainly on underlying tension and atmosphere. Unfortunately, the part where the main character is alone in the house could have been longer, which would have given room for more scares.
Very good acting, scary cinematography and musical score. Sadly underrated horror film.

Slow ghost horror film with a number of atmospheric sequences and uncomfortable moments, but overall not very captivatingly designed. Especially the acting and the design of the characters can be looked at for that and within a story that certainly has to rely on the content-related finds that is a cliché. Unfortunately, the events do not want to become very exciting. The second half creates a bit more than the build-up in the first half does, but cannot hide the fact that The Woman in Black is drawn out too long and is not effective enough in terms of horror, despite a rapid escalation of events.
