As far as I'm concerned, not a completely successful mix of a psychological drama and a crime story. This is probably because the main theme (poker) could not arouse any interest in me at any time. Still decent roles from Matt Dillon and Edward Norton. John Malkovich's shrewdness, on the other hand, soon became quite irritating. The ladies (Gretchen Moll and Famke Janssen) only participate for decoration.

If you read the description like this, you actually don't have to watch the film anymore. Very simple, predictable course with few highlights. Huge by the book, and saw few memorable things outside the scene with the cops. Probe, because there is a lot of fun to do with the subject.

2*

“He beat me... Straight up... Pay him... Pay that man his money.”

The best scene of Rounders is of course the battle between Damon and Malkovich at the end. Poker has never been portrayed so excitingly. For the rest, the film has quite a predictable course, and it is not really exciting or interesting. But the acting pays off a lot. Norton plays the sneaky Worm excellently, but in the end it is Damon and especially Malkvoich who steal the show in the end.
