Theo, the village leader's son, decides to secretly go to the island with some villagers to kill the Minotaur. On the island they come across a gigantic palace, where the Minotaur resides. The reality surrounding the Minotaur turns out to be terrible, and the question is whether a God can be killed.

In the context of a weekly poo movie, I threw in Minotaur this time.

Where in the beginning I still thought that the film was nice and that it wasn't even terribly bad, the second part of the film is a big softie.

Nothing happens other than running back and forth through the caves without a chance. Chased by an ugly Minotaur and bad dialogues that follow, you're left with a very weak movie.

The role of Hauer is also quite negligible.

1*

Half star for Tony Tood hamming it up as the king, half star for Michelle van der Water as his lovely sister in her sexy white nurse suit, half star for the expectation being created (I got curious anyway what the maze and monster would look like), half asterisk for the nice explosion of fire in the maze and half asterisk for the idea, the ambitious combination of mythology, fantasy and horror.

I don't subtract half or even whole stars from the score because of the FX (that trotting minotaur!) and the low budget (I've seen more luxurious palaces and more extensive crowds), because all in all I think this is a remarkably sympathetic product . I think it's just like the title character with this film: a monstrosity, but secretly a sweetheart.

DVD Verdict even mentions a DVD version with a commentary track with the director and editor. Well, that's going too far – my bare bones DFW-Bart-Smit-5-for-€5 copy is good enough.

Great video that looks good ..... but that's about it! Well okay go ahead! I liked some of the kills! The erotic part with the princess and those 2 female fellow villagers of Theo was not bad to see! hehe

Tony Todd always brings a smile to my face!

I actually thought the "Minotaur" looked quite impressive, but would have preferred to see it on 2 legs, but that's a small detail.

Acting was generally fine but I found "Theo" (who it is all about) really unconvincing to seriously weak acting.
