The Denbow family tries to dislodge settlers by denying them access to their territory. To get out of a murder, Glenn Denbow marries Jane Stevens, the only witness. Jane, however, has a warm heart for the settlers. When Glenn returns to his first love, the wicked Lottie, Jane becomes increasingly close with cousin Kirk Denbow and a deep affection develops between the two.
