Mickybo and Me plot
"We all need heroes"
Mickybo and Jonjo, both 9, become friends in Belfast in 1970. Their friendship is not exactly obvious, as Jonjo comes from a middle-class Catholic neighborhood, while Mickybo grows up "across the bridge" in a large family. They both have their problems at home: a bad marriage on the one hand and an alcoholic father on the other. Added to this is a particularly raw and violent environment. After watching "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" together, they become blood brothers. Due to a succession of different situations, they decide to flee to Australia.
