Phileine Zegt Sorry plot

On a whim, "ultrabitch" Phileine follows her boyfriend Max, who is participating as an actor in an international Shakespeare project in New York. She suspects that he is more interested in his co-star Joanne than in her, which eventually lands her in Joanne's boyfriend's arms. In a fit of sexual jealousy, she disrupts Max and Joanne's intimate interpretation of Romeo & Juliet. The newfound national fame doesn't bring her the happiness she'd hoped for and she realizes in the luxurious solitude of her Waldorf Astoria hotel suite that Max means more to her than she ever imagined.

Very much the former Giphart. Screaming and especially finding himself very fun and interesting. That self-awareness also comes to the fore when Van Kooten talks into the camera again. And that usually irritates me immensely. I thought the story was just so-so and the acting across the board was also not very special, with Michiel 'Boring as Ever' Huisman leading the way. The exception was Kim van Kooten, who was nice and fierce, but also managed to portray a certain sincerity and credibility. Those New York backgrounds on canvas so incredibly fake were probably intended, but I didn't like it. 1.5*.

The feeling about this film is quite mixed. On the one hand, everything was much too thick on top of it, but on the other hand I kept watching with fascination. Kim van Kooten does her best but is both annoying and sympathetic and that in itself is a great achievement.

This film certainly gives viewing pleasure, but it never really gets any better. In the Netherlands, however, much worse films have been made.

Average.
