"Destiny has big plans for little Simon Birch."
Simon Birch is the smallest baby ever born and according to doctors it is a miracle that he survived the first hours, days and weeks of his life. This makes Simon sure that God has predestined him for great deeds. His best friend Joe Wenteworth also has a mission: to discover the identity of his real father. After the death of Joe's mother, Simon and Joe go in search of the core of their existence: for one it is his future, for the other his origin.
